What is Reintegration Therapy?
When a child begins to pull away from a parent—or has stopped engaging entirely—it can be a heartbreaking situation for both sides. Whether due to conflict, fear, or a long absence, these situations are emotionally charged and difficult to navigate alone. Reintegration therapy is often court-ordered to help families work through these challenges in a supportive, structured setting.
Dr. Tonkins has extensive experience in handling these delicate family matters with sensitivity and care.
In a safe therapeutic space, we examine the factors leading to the child’s resistance and work together to rebuild trust. The family is supported in taking accountability for their different roles in the relationship dynamic, allowing for healing and positive change.
Through guided conversations, parents learn to truly hear their child’s perspective, acknowledge past difficulties, and take meaningful steps
toward repairing the bond.
As progress is made, we move beyond office sessions into real-world interactions—starting with enjoyable activities and gradually reintroducing
time at home—to help reestablish a secure and loving connection when possible.
